HISTORICAL COMMITTEE INTERVIEW QUESTIONS
1. Were you a member of St. Philip Neri Parish since birth?
2. If not, how long have you been a parishioner?
3. How long did your parents live in the Valley and when did they first become parishioners?
4. Did you attend St. Philip Neri School?
5. What are you earliest memories of the parish?
6. Who do you first remember as pastor of the parish?
7. What were some of the activities in the parish?
8. Do you know any current parishioners who were also early members of the parish/school?
9. Did you attend school with any current parishioners?
10. Do you have any old photos from the parish or any of the events in the parish?
11. Could you share with us what you remember about the parish, the administration, the school staff, etc.
12. Are there any historical facts you could share with us?
13. What was the “Valley” like?
14. What can you tell us about some of the Spiritual events (Mass, Sacraments) and social events in the parish.
15. Do you know anything about the bingo games with live chickens?
The Historical Committee is looking for articles of historical significance pertaining to St. Philip Neri Church and School, for example: Sacramental documents and religious items from Green Lane Chapel and East Greenville Church. Items from the school might be old yearbooks or pictures.
These items will be displayed in a locked glass case in the Parish Hall and/or the Catholic Family Life Center during the time of our 100th Anniversary in 2019. Items can be loaned temporarily or donated to the church.

When we meet: The historical committee meets on the third Thursday of the month. Our meeting room is located in the bottom floor of the Catholic Family Life Center, next to the library.

Description: BINGO is held on the first Sunday of each month in the Parish Hall.
Doors open at 12 Noon with games beginning at 1:00 PM. It is open to parishioners and the general public.
The kitchen serves a variety of food and beverages.

Description: Parish Breakfast is served in the Parish Hall on the second (2nd) Sunday of each month with the exception of July and August.
Doors open at 7:00 AM till 12:00 PM. Breakfast is open to the general public and is convenient to the before and after Mass crowd.
Expanded Menu - Can you help?
The Monthly Breakfast has expanded its menu and therefore is in need of cooks, line personnel, and dish washers. We in particular need help with cleanup at the end of the breakfast which concludes at 12:00 PM.

SILVER SPIRITS TRAVEL CLUB:

Description: A Parish based Travel Club that meets two times a year to plan two or more bus trips for parishioners here at St. Philip Neri Parish.

Description: There are 10 members in the Garden Club. We meet every Wednesday at 5:00 pm March through October.
We maintain the grounds around the church, social hall and rectory. Care of the grounds includes: planting (flowers, shrubs & trees), weeding, watering, mulching; edging, trimming (trees & bushes) and whatever else might be necessary.
We also have a spring and fall cleanup and invite all the parishioners to participate.
If you enjoy the outdoors and gardening, we invite you to join our group on Wednesday's from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm (weather pending) beginning April and continuing thru October. If this does not fit into your schedule, feel free to come out on another day! For more information or to find out what we do or how you can be of assistance. Call Lee Johnson (number above).

Description: Dedicated parishioner volunteers mow selected areas of the parish grounds on a weekly basis during late spring into early autumn.
Equipment is housed and maintained in a secure garage on the parish grounds.

Description: The SCRIP Program is a great way to increase the value of every dollar spent at participating grocery stores, restaurants, drug stores, department stores, and theaters.
The gift cards are purchased by the parishioner at face value, but 3% of every dollar spent is donated to the parish and 2% comes back to the parishioner in the form of BINGO or Breakfast bucks.

Description: The Joyful Heart Lounge and Library located in the Catholic Family Life Center, provides adults a place to work, read, relax or gather with friends. Wi-Fi is available, so bring your own computer.
